Rikhiapeeth Blog

Rikhiapeeth Blog has excerpts of Swami Satyananda Saraswati’s teachings. It also has some wonderful Guru Chants which some of you will want for Guru Purnima. Tapowan Sangeet are recordings of Swami Satyananda singing the favorites many have come to love. I am creating a permanent link so readers can access the blog easily. On the right hand side of this blog, scroll down till you come to Blog Roll to find the permanent links.  The blog is “intended for aspirants known and unknown to be inspired through the satsangs of Swami Satyananda to develop spiritual goals and ideals in their lives.”

Swami Satyananda was a disciple of Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh. After leaving his guru’s ashram, he eventually founded the well-known Bihar School of Yoga. It is highly regarded for its sannyasa tradition, outstanding books that generously share vast amounts of knowledge and detailed practices not taught elsewhere, and its work within disadvantaged villages and communities.

May 29, 2011 entry of the Rikhiapeeth Blog begins:

“The main purpose of yoga is to bring higher enlightenment to humankind. Yoga has often been misunderstood. During a television interview I was asked to teach yoga. I started teaching meditation and they did not know it was yoga. They thought I would stand on my head.”

The importance of yoga and awareness to develop one’s full potential is explained. It is worth reading. Let me know what you think!

  1. This blog is another gift! Thank you, Meena. I will savor it at my leisure.

Reading Satyananda’s blog and yours is like opening doors to another exquisite space and discovering that it is our own space after all, but newly unveiled, re-imagined and better understood.

    Namaste, Mary

    1. Thought you might like rikhiapeethblog as you like BSY books! As Sw. Satyananda is no longer living, the blog has become more special.
I will have to post a link to the Sufi website soon as you and Jim will find it to be the same exquisite space.
